Banks in New Zealand Following banks have a branch and ATM at the most major New Zealand cities and towns. Banks in the main centres are generally open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks, some hotels and Bureau de Change kiosks. All major international credit cards are accepted in New Zealand. If you have a PIN number for your credit card you will be able to withdraw cash from ATM's. Travellers Cheques are accepted at banks, hotels and some retail stores.
