Paihia Christmas Parade
December 11
Come and watch the parade or be part of it the theme is "THINK GREEN"! Starts at 5.30pm from Kings Road and travels along the waterfront and through town. Magical parade with lots for the kids to do! Bouncy Castle, entertainment, food stalls, clowns. A prize for every kid that dresses up! And Santas famous lolly scramble.
Bay of Islands Singers - Christmas Concert
December 17
An evening of Christmas Carols and other Christmas music for ALL. At the Centre at Kerikeri.
New Years Eve Fireworks Extravaganza
December 31
Spectacular fireworks display at midnight in the Bay. A fantastic event with a great atmosphere to top off a night out on New Years Eve in Paihia. The fireworks are on a barge in the Bay and can be seen from Paihia, Russell, Haruru Falls and Opua. A sight not to be missed!
Paihia Summer Family Fun Festival
January 7 - 17
A 10 day festival for all the family, free activities each day and fantastic prizes to be won. All the old favourites plus a few new ones! Monster Mural Painting, Street Smart Funky Art Pavement Drawing, Sandcastle competition, Beach Dig, Talent Contest, Action World Challenge, Old Fashioned Games, 1km kids fun run on beach, surf safety, Hip Hop, wearable arts, fishing competition, Waitangi Mystery Trail - plus lots more!!
Tall Ships & Classic Invitation, Russell

The Tall Ships & Classic Invitation are 2 light-hearted races in the Bay of Islands celebrating the spectacle of sail.
Bay of Islands Sailing Week, Opua
January 20 - 23
Bay of Islands Sailing Week is an annual Yacht Racing Regatta. Registration evening on Jan 19th 2009 at Opua Wharf.
Waitangi Festival
February 4 - 7
Family fun, sports, entertainment surround Waitangi Day at the Treaty grounds. Live music springs unexpectedly from corners of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds during Wednesday 4th Februay to start the celebrations. At 5pm Northland artist Theresa Reihana opens an exhibition of her work and at 7:30pm the first free concert of the festival draws crowds to Hobson's Beach. Thursday 5th February is family sports day with coordinated games and competitions on the Waitangi Green. Another free concert is planned for the evening. Friday - Waitangi Day - begins with the Dawn Karakia at the carved meeting house (5:30am) and a day of ceremony, prayer, music and family fun formally ends at ceremonial sunset (5pm) with Beat Retreat and a naval Guard of Honour. Then the Hobson's beach stage erupts into more entertainment. Saturday 7 February features music and further sports around the grounds. www.waitangi.net.nz
Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival
May
Each year the festival features more than 45 acts from New Zealand, Nashville and Australia performing at multiple venues. Street music and line dancing are also popular features. www.country-rock.co.nz
Puff and Pull Carnival, Kawakawa
May
Annual community event with school and community teams competing to pull the vintage steam engine down Kawakawa's main street, plus sponsored walk, vintage car display and much more around the theme of steam and coal.
Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival

Taste Bay of Islands

Taste Bay of Islands is the day to sample the varied tastes of the area. In September a variety of businesses will gather at Bay of islands Conference and Events Centre at Copthorne Hotel & Resort Bay of Islands to once again create a day of ‘enjoying the taste’ coupled with live entertainment for all the family.
Coastal Classics Yacht Race
October
The Coastal Classic Yacht Race from Devonport Wharf in Auckland, to Russell Wharf in the Bay of Islands. New Zealand's premier fleet yacht race and has been held annually at Labour weekend since its inception in 1982. www.coastalclassic.co.nz
